The population of the province of Alicante has passed the important milestone of two million inhabitants.
The figures reflect the latest updated population data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), reflecting figures as of 1 July 2024.
The total population in the regions of Alicante is currently 2,008,809, including 992,651 men and 1,016,158 women.
This represents an increase of 6,042 people since the last revision of the data in April.
When looking at the data by nationality, the province has 1,531,273 Spanish citizens and 477,536 foreign citizens.
The increase includes 1,207 additional Spanish citizens and a notable increase of 4,835 foreign citizens, making a significant contribution to the growth of the province.
Alicante's demographic growth in the third quarter of 2024 consolidates its position as the fourth most populous province in Spain, which it achieved after overtaking Seville in April 2023.
In the second quarter of 2024, the main nationalities of immigrants to Spain were Colombians (36,900 arrivals), Moroccans (25,100) and Venezuelans (21,400).
In addition, 20,600 arrivals were people who already had Spanish nationality.
Other significant immigrant groups included 15,200 Peruvians, 10,300 Italians, 8,300 Argentines, 7,300 Ukrainians, 6,400 Hondurans and 5,500 Paraguayans.
This influx was offset by the emigration of 11,100 people with Spanish nationality, as well as 11,000 Moroccans, 8,700 Colombians, 7,800 Romanians, 5,600 Ukrainians, 4,000 Venezuelans, 3,500 Peruvians, 3,500 British, 2,700 Italians and 2,600 Chinese citizens.
