Questions
We know that you have many questions and doubts, we will try to answer most of them in this section
We hope you will find answers to most of your questions here:
If you own a home in Spain but live abroad or spend long periods away, there are many situations when someone may need access to your property while you are not here.A plumber may need to check a leak, an electrician may need access, a contractor may need to carry out repairs, or you may simply want a family member to be able to enter the property when you are away.Keeping the keys with KeyHold means you do not have to organise key handovers from abroad or depend on neighbours, friends or people who may no longer be available. Your keys are kept specifically for access to your property and released only when authorised.
We understand that handing over the keys to your home requires trust.Your keys are kept in a secure key storage system, and they are not handed to third parties simply because someone asks for them. When another person needs access to your property, we require your authorisation and identification of the person collecting the keys. This means that there is a clear record of who is authorised to receive the keys and why.The purpose of the service is not simply to "keep a spare key", but to give you a controlled way of providing access to your property when you cannot be here yourself.
Because the biggest problems with an empty property are often the ones you cannot see from abroad.A small water leak can continue for weeks. Humidity can lead to mould. A power failure can leave a property without ventilation or refrigeration. A blocked or unused plumbing system can create unpleasant smells or other problems. Insects or other pests can appear without anyone noticing.A monthly visit gives us the opportunity to find these problems while they are still small, rather than discovering them when you return months later. It is not about checking whether your home is "clean". It is about making sure that an empty property is not quietly developing a problem that could become expensive to repair.
The main benefit is early detection.During the inspection we check the general condition of the property, ventilation, electricity and basic utilities, look for visible leaks, mould, pests or damage, run taps and flush toilets, and check areas that can deteriorate when a property remains closed for a long time. We then send you a photo report. For an owner living in another country, this means you do not have to wait until your next visit to discover that something has happened. The cost of an inspection is predictable. The cost of leaving a problem unnoticed for several months may not be.
After each inspection, we send you a photo report showing the condition of the property. The report gives you a visual record of the visit and allows you to see what we have checked and whether there is anything that requires your attention. If we find something unusual — for example signs of a leak, mould, damage or another problem — we contact you rather than simply reporting it after the fact. This approach is already reflected in the current Property Care service, where photo reports are provided after visits.
We contact you as soon as we identify something that requires attention and explain what we have found. If access is needed for a plumber, electrician, contractor or another professional, we can arrange access to the property with your authorisation. This is one of the practical reasons for combining property inspections with Keyholding: you do not have to travel to Spain simply to open the door for someone who needs to deal with a problem.Any repair or additional work is discussed with you before it is arranged.
Cleaning before your arrival is not only for holiday rentals. If your property remains closed for several weeks or months, dust accumulates, bathrooms and kitchens become stale, and terraces or balconies collect dirt. You may not want to spend the first day of your holiday cleaning after a long journey. We can prepare the property before your arrival so that you can walk in and start enjoying your stay immediately, rather than spending your first hours cleaning. The service can also be useful if family or friends are coming to stay while you are not there.
We will contact you using your preferred method of communication, such as WhatsApp, email or phone. After each scheduled property inspection, you will receive a photo report showing the condition of your property. If we find any issue that requires your attention, we will contact you directly and explain what we have found and what action may be needed.
Yes. If your property needs the assistance of a plumber, electrician or another local professional, we can help arrange access to your property and coordinate the visit with your authorisation. We can also help you communicate with local service providers when you are not in Spain. Any repair or additional work will be discussed with you before it is arranged.
